Dr.Matthew Hoyt graduated with his clinical doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) in 2016 from the University of New Mexico. He has worked in a variety of physical therapy settings over the past several years that has allowed him to work with all population types including pediatrics, geriatrics, and everyone in between. Matthew grew up in Alamogordo, and is very proud to be able to help the community. Matthew currently lives in Las Cruces with his wife, two daughters, and two Italian Greyhounds. He enjoys exercising and watching sports during his time away from the clinic.

Derek Halladay, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, is a managing member and office manager at Back in Action Therapy. He was a member of the University of New Mexico Track & Field team from 2008-2013 while completing his bachelors degree in Exercise Science. In 2016, he graduated with his MBA from Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico. Derek enjoys watching sports and playing video games in his free time. 

Deborah grew up in Chama, New Mexico. She graduated from NMSU in 2011 with a BS in Biology, BA in psychology, and a Minor in Chemistry. Deborah graduated with a MS in Breathing Sciences in 2016, and received her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Western Technical College in 2021. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at home with her husband and three dogs. She also enjoys traveling and seeing new places. 

Dr. Braiden Burks graduated from UTEP with his clinical doctorate in physical therapy after completing his undergraduate degree in kinesiology at NMSU. Braiden enjoys working in an orthopedic setting which allows him to treat many different populations of patients and utilize his manual skills to help his patients overcome their symptoms. Braiden grew up in southern New Mexico and has lived in Las Cruces for the last 13 years.

Margaret grew up in South Florida, moving to Las Cruces in 1992. She partnered in opening up a gym, combining her passions of physical therapy, health and fitness. Margaret offers over 30 years of an extensive range of training and experience in orthopedics, neurological involved patients, sports medicine, work conditioning and pediatrics.

She first received her physical therapy assistant degree, with her primary goal in mind of becoming a physical therapist. She achieved that in 1989, receiving her degree from Florida International University. Her favorite past time is to spend time with friends and family, particularly her son. Other interest are traveling, working out at the gym, hiking with her dogs and biking.

Dr. Anthony Tovar received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The Ohio State
University in 2024. His approach to physical therapy is to educate and empower his
patients to achieve their highest potential for functional independence and improve their
quality of life. Anthony grew up in Lordsburg, New Mexico, and strives to promote health
and wellness within his community. Outside of work, Anthony enjoys staying active
through exercise and recreational sports, and to relax he enjoys binge watching shows
with his girlfriend and cat.

Emma Lombardi was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM. She earned her Doctorate of Physical
Therapy from Texas Tech University and is passionate about delivering well-rounded,
evidence-based care to the community she proudly calls home. Emma is committed to serving
her community by offering thoughtful, individualized treatment plans that support long-term
health,recovery, and wellness. In her free time she enjoys hiking, working out, and spending
quality time with her family.

Sierra was born and raised in Las Cruces and has been working in physical therapy since 2018. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from New Mexico State University and her Associate of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant from San Juan College before becoming board-certified in 2023. She enjoys treating orthopedic conditions and focuses on individualized, functional treatment plans that promote independence and pain relief. Her approach emphasizes patient education and practical strategies patients can carry into everyday life.

Margaret moved from El Paso to Las Cruces ten years ago. She attended Mountain View High School and graduated in 1999. Margaret received her certification as a Medical Office Specialist in 2003. She is happily married with two beautiful girls. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family along with reading, organizing, cleaning, decorating, and finding new projects for her home. 

I am Valarie Garcia, the new Front Desk Coordinator at the Sonoma location. I recently moved from Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I previously worked in Accounting.

I am excited to join Back in Action Therapy and look forward to making a positive difference in our patients' lives.

Hi, I’m Diego, the lead tech at our clinic at Sonoma Ranch and a Kinesiology student at NMSU Global. I’m working toward becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy and love being in an environment where I can learn and grow as a leader. I have a background in baseball and swimming, and I currently enjoy playing pickleball in my free time. I’m thankful to be part of a team that’s dedicated to helping patients move and feel better.

My approach is rooted in faith, compassion, and a commitment to excellence. I aim to reflect Christ-like love in the way I serve—through patience, kindness, and a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life. Whether assisting with exercises, supporting recovery, or simply offering encouragement, I see each interaction as an opportunity to make a positive impact.

Born in Killeen, TX, but raised in Round Rock, Tx, I moved to New Mexico after receiving a full scholarship to play football for NMSU from 2018 to 2022. After graduating from NMSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing, I continued to pursue a career in athletics and earned my personal training certification. With my experience, I have obtained more knowledge and certifications in child training, sports nutrition, and corrective exercise.

Alan is a graduate of NMSU with a BS in Kinesiology and has always been passionate about sports and understanding how the body works. He is dedicated to leveling up in every area of his life by learning, applying new skills, and improving himself. Alan is building his career in the medical field, working toward becoming a Physician Assistant and exploring different ways to reach that goal. Outside of work, he stays active by playing soccer, pickleball, going to the gym, and enjoys going to the movies.

Currently an NMSU student from Las Vegas,NV trying to obtain my Bachelors in Kinesiology and soon attend PT school. A former collegiate football player before coming to Cruces in 2024. I've always been around PT and AT due to my athletic injuries and have come to love being around and helping people that have experienced things like me.

Leticia was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM. She has worked with multiple businesses in Las Cruces in which she has developed her years of experience in Management and Customer Service skills.  These years of experience have allowed her to build many professional relationships in the community.  In her free time Leticia enjoys spending time with family, her pup and working on house projects.
