Alamogordo

Dr. Scott Nufer
Physical Therapist
Dr. Scott Nufer is originally from Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from BYU, with a major in Exercise Science and a minor in Ballroom Dance. Partway through his college education, he took 2 years off for a full-time mission to Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended RMUoHP in Utah for his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. His clinical internships included a 6-week term at Provo Rehab and Nursing in Utah, and a year-long outpatient term at Benchmark Physical Therapy in Oakwood and Commerce, Georgia.Scott is certified in dry needling (Cert. DN) from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. Scott loves pretty much any sport, woodworking, and playing guitar and singing. He is a happy husband, and father of 5 beautiful children.

Dr. Mark Denney
Physical Therapist
Dr. Mark Denney was born and raised here in Alamogordo, NM. He attended NMSU for undergraduate school and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. He then attended the University of New Mexico for his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Shortly after graduation, Mark became certified in dry needling (Cert. DN) from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. When Mark isn't working, his favorite hobbies include hunting, fishing, golfing, and Drag Racing his 1968 NOVA. He was recently engaged to his soon to be wife Emily in December of 2022 and has a wedding date set in April of 2024.

Dr. Rachael Haverporth
Physical Therapist, Clinic Director
Dr. Haverporth grew up in Missouri, and received her physical therapy degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is certified in McKenzie and specialized in Hesch and vestibular therapy techniques. McKenzie is a method that focuses on patient education and self-care to treat the spine and extremities by using specific repeated movements and prevention measures. Hesch is a method design to help patients learn how to align their hips and pelvis with easy, non-painful techniques. Dr. Haverporth has experience working with pediatrics, neuro, and cardiac rehab patients.

Dr. Rianna Shattuck
Physical Therapist
Dr. Rianna is originally from San Diego, California. She graduated from San Francisco State University with her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). During her clinical rotations she gained experience in several outpatient orthopedics clinics. She has two years of experience working in pediatrics and also worked as a travel therapist in a skilled nursing facility with subacute, respiratory, long term, and memory care. In her free time, she enjoys going hiking with her two dogs and rock climbing with her husband.

Dr. Sarah Banister
Physical Therapist
Dr. Sarah Banister moved to Alamogordo from Kansas City, Kansas. While there she attended MidAmerica Nazarene University, where she played soccer for two years before focusing on pursuing graduate school. In 2019 she graduated from The University of Kansas Medical Center with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She then worked for The University of Kansas Health System for four years, focusing in outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. Sarah enjoys being active and competitive, her weekends are often filled with playing pickleball, lifting weights, or running with her husband. During football season, you will find her cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs!

Dr. Alexandra Gutierrez-Loya
Physical Therapist
I was born and raised in Deming, NM. I joined the Navy right after high school and was stationed in Everett, WA. After getting out of the military I moved to Las Cruces and attended NMSU where I received my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology then later received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at UTEP. I’m passionate about physical therapy for many reasons but mainly because I enjoy helping patients improve their quality of life through movement. Outside of the clinic I love spending time with my family, traveling and experiencing new things with them.

Rena Collins
Front Desk Coordinator
Rena was born and raised in Alamogordo, NM. She has been happily married to her husband Les for 24 years and has three children, along with two grandchildren. Rena enjoys reading, writing poetry, and spending time with friends and family. She has been a loyal employee with Back in Action Therapy for the past ten years!

Rehanna Chavez
Front Desk Coordinator/Insurance Verification Officer
My name is Rehanna Chavez. I was born and raised here in Alamogordo. I have 3 wonderful sons ages 19, 16, and 12. I have a wonderful husband who I have been happily married to for 5 years. I really enjoy working here at Back in Action Therapy. Everyone here is so kind and caring. I also enjoy our clients and getting to know them. Being able to work here has been such a blessing and I am so happy God’s plans have led me here.

Naomi Ruiz
Front Desk Coordinator
I am 38 yrs old. I've been a receptionist for 10 plus years. I love to work, stay busy, and help others. I moved to Alamogordo in May 2018 and love this city. I'm married with no kiddos but we just had a litter of puppies and our dogs that total 16. I recently started at Back in Action Therapy and I really love it here. I definitely found my 2nd family. My hobbies are drawing, painting, and writing. I enjoy swimming and baking as well.

Marriya Shelland
Therapy Technician
Marriya was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, then moved to Alamogordo with her parents. She attended Alamogordo High and NMSU-A. She has an aspiration to go to school to further her education as a physical therapy assistant. She enjoys watching NFL and playing softball.

Monica Sandino
Therapy Technician
My name is Monica and I just recently started a new life chapter here in Alamogordo, NM. I'm into aiding others within their journey to be the best version of themselves. Also, I'm the mother of a beautiful gray, fat cat that loves to stand on my throat when I sleep.

Hannah Johnson
Therapy Technician
My name is Hannah Johnson. I was born and raised here in Alamogordo. I have 3 adorable fur babies. I love the outdoors, like hiking, hunting, and just being in the mountains. I want to attend school to become a physical therapy assistant..

Bella Alarcon
Therapy Technician
Bella Alarcon, originally from Thailand, is a graduate of Dhurakij Pundit University with a love for adventure and family. She enjoys exploring the world through hiking, skydiving, and travel, always seeking new and exciting experiences to share with her loved ones. With 10 years of marriage and a 6 year old daughter, Bella values her family above all else and works to create lasting memories through her adventurous pursuits.

Chelsea Dennett
Therapy Technician
Chelsea Dennett is a native of NM. She attended NMSU in Las Cruces for AgEd. Chelsea has a passion for helping people and have been in the medical field for 7 years. She plans on becoming an X-Ray Tech/Ultrasound Tech. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors and riding horses.

Wendy Mack
Office Manager
Wendy was born in Dallas, Tx. She has 4 children, all born in El Paso but raised in Cloudcroft, NM. She is
also a very happy and proud grandmother of 4, with a 5th on the way. Wendy was a business owner in
Cloudcroft for many years, owning Gary Mack Real Estate and the Cloudcroft Hotel and Gift Shop. She
left Cloudcroft about 8 years ago and moved to Denver, where she landed a job with Southwest Airlines.
She has recently relocated back to the area to be closer to her youngest daughter and family. Wendy
loves reading, anything outdoors, and spending time with her family.
