Joint Replacements

Physical therapy after joint replacement surgery may include exercises to strengthen the muscles around the joint, manual therapy to improve joint mobility, and modalities such as heat or ice to help reduce pain and swelling. The physical therapist may also help the patient learn how to safely move around with the new joint, and provide guidance on how to avoid certain activities that may be harmful to the joint. The goal of physical therapy after joint replacement surgery is to help patients recover as much function and mobility as possible, and to minimize the risk of future injuries or complications.
